“The Very Best Award”

For the very first time, citizens of the Miramichi region will get the opportunity to vote for an outstanding individual who exemplifies hard work and dedication through volunteerism and a genuine care for the community’s well-being.

The initiative was created from a partnership between Miramichi Young Professionals and Involved Entrepreneurs and Miramichi Online (MO) in an effort to showcase individuals aged 45 or younger who work behind the scenes to continuously make our community a better place to live in; as a result, “The Very Best People’s Choice Award” was born.

Criteria for the award is based off of the following conditions:

  • The candidate has to be a resident of the Miramichi Region for at least the past two years
  • They have to be actively involved within the community
  • They have to be 45 years of age or younger
  • They have to display outstanding volunteerism in the community, and
  • They have to be actively involved in working toward making our community a better place

Nominations for the award were accepted during the month of December and closed on Friday, January 6, 2012.  A total of 23 nominations were received during this time.  An independent panel of judges not affiliated with either of the supporting organizations then had the difficult task of selecting only 10 finalists for the award.

The candidates selected for “The Very Best People’s Choice Award” will be featured at the 4th annual MYPIE Business Gala & Awards Ceremony on April 21, 2012.  During the event, a candidate selected by popular vote will be chosen to represent 2012’s “People’s Choice” winner.

Voting for the candidates will take place until March 23, 2012 at www.miramichisbest.com.  A direct link to the voting page can also be found here: http://www.miramichisbest.com/vote/.

The website also features a page for each of the finalists containing a brief summary of the candidate’s tremendous effort and involvement within the community.  It is now up to the citizens of Miramichi to vote and select their winner for the very first, “The Very Best People’s Choice Award”!
